BGN ordination program.

We support you to be who you are called to be.

What is ordination?

Ordination, in Christian churches, a rite for the dedication and commitment of ministers. The essential ceremony consists of the laying of hands of the ordaining minister upon the head of the one being ordained, with prayer for the gifts of the Holy Spirit and of grace required for the carrying out of the ministry.

The ceremony of bestowing a person with a position of religious authority — as when someone becomes a minister. The noun ordination comes from the Latin word ordinary, meaning “put in order.” Becoming a religious leader usually requires training in a seminary followed by an ordination.

Ordination Requirements.

  • We believe that Jesus is the only way to salvation and that there are not many roads to salvation. Those wishing to be ordained by us must affirm the Christian values that affirm Jesus as Lord. We also believe in the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit as God and the way to access that relationship with the Father and Holy Spirit is by accepting Jesus His son.

  • We believe that Leaders in God’s church should be committed to the Scripture as God’s word. Not simply in word, but also in lifestyle. The bible states that the Holy Spirit leads us into all truth and has confirmed and will continue to confirm the scripture as God’s word to us.

“And may your hearts be fully committed to the LORD our God, to live by his decrees and obey his commands, as at this time.” 1 Kings 8:61

  • We believe that leaders in God’s church must be committed to the body of Christ both locally and globally. Hebrews 10: 25 states not to neglect meeting together. Whether it is a traditional church or house church, leaders should be committed to the body of Christ. Acts 20: 28 also charges leaders to care for the flock. Leaders must love God’s body.

  • We believed that we are saved by grace through faith and we are free sons and daughters of the kingdom. Yet, there is a greater standard of living, integrity, and holiness required for leaders as expressed in 1 & 2 Timothy and Titus. Therefore, we require that Leaders maintain a holy lifestyle in order to be considered for ordination. That doesn’t mean that you have to be perfect, but it mean that you will be teachable, correctable, and willing to repent if needed.

  • In addition to believing that Jesus is Lord and the author of salvation, we want to be clear on some of the foundational truths of scripture that we hold to. Before you consider ordination with us, we invite you to view our Statement of Faith.

  • We encourage you to read in totality and commit to our Statement of Faith prior to committed to be ordained with BARN.

Ordination confers authority, but righteousness are required to act with power as we strive to lift souls, to teach and testify, to bless and counsel, and to advance the work of the Kingdom.

Ordination means that you are being authorized to work on the Lord’s behalf for his Kingdom.

Ordination is serious business, it will shift your life, heart, and understanding of God’s kingdom as you move from laity to the role of clergy. It is important to take this role seriously.

Why become ordained?

-David Bednar

“Receiving the authority of the priesthood by the laying on of hands is an important beginning, but it is not enough. Ordination confers authority, but righteousness is required to act with power as we strive to lift souls, to teach and testify, to bless and counsel, and to advance the work of salvation.”

5 steps to complete

1

first step

The BARN ordination course. It takes 1-2 years, depending on the progress. You can be approved for the Fast Track by LaTasha or another member of the Board of Directors.

2

second step

You are required to have three years of service. If you have previously served in a church setting, or are currently serving BARN or you successfully completed an internship with Bethel or another ministry school, you can count the time submitting the documents as proof to be approved by us.

3

third step

You are required to have at least 30 hours of mentoring. You may select a BARN mentor or outside mentor provided but they have to become a BARN approved mentor. To Learn more about our mentorship program, click here.

4

forth step

We need an approval from your mentor to complete this step. Then Ordination Committee will review your application. This is the process when we will make decision about your candidacy. If the committee approve you will be qualified for ordination.

5

fifth step

Once your ordination has been approved by our committee, you will then attend the Ordination Ceremony where you will receive your certificate and an ordination gift.
